What? No Deal??
[Trouble brewing: McCain says ‘there never existed a deal’
Thursday, September 25, 2008, 10:04 PM
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The following statement was just issued by the Republican presidential campaign of John McCain. The key is this phrase: “There never existed a ‘deal’”…..
To wit:
To address our current financial crisis, John McCain suspended his campaign and returned to Washington, D.C., today to help build a bipartisan consensus for a proposal that would protect the American taxpayer.
Despite today’s news reports, there never existed a “deal,” but merely a proposal offered by a small, select group of Members of Congress. As of right now, there exists only a series of principles, including greater oversight and measures to address CEO pay. However, these principles do not enjoy a consensus in Congress.
At today’s cabinet meeting, John McCain did not attack any proposal or endorse any plan. John McCain simply urged that for any proposal to enjoy the confidence of the American people, stressing that all sides would have to cooperate and build a bipartisan consensus for a solution that protects taxpayers.
However, the Democrats allowed Senator Obama to run their side of the meeting. That did not work as the meeting quickly devolved into a contentious shouting match that did not seek to craft a bipartisan solution.]

My Letter To The American Cancer Society
To Whom It May Concern,
As a Registered Nurse and an advocate for patients rights, I find myself alarmed at this ad:
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/09/25/liberal-pacs-ready-attack-ad-on-mccains-health/
questioning Senator McCain's right/ ability to run for president.
I sincerely hope that the ACS will take a stand against this kind of "disqualification from life" based on past history of cancer.
Thanks,

Did Hell Just Freeze Over?
It appears that Campbell Brown is now concerned about... get this..... sexism!

My Objections to the Obama Playbook
I want to remind myself now, of some of the dirty campaign tactics used by the Obama camp. Against the Clintons, and later against McCain/Palin. In fact... these were tactics used against *me.* Because they represent the worst kind of exploitation of the electorate. I have followed this election season more closely than many.
I firmly believe that if my Democratic family and friends saw what I did... they would agree. Obama is NOT GOOD for the Democratic party, or the United States.
1) Calling me (and my candidate) a racist during the primaries was bad enough. In fact, Donna Brazile indicated that all of KY, WVa, and southern OH were back country, tabacca smokin hicks. And David Plouffe indicated that he did not need us to win the general election for Mr. Obama.
There are two reasons why Obama and his surrogates keep reminding us that he is "not like the other presidents on dollar bills." First... they want to prey upon "white guilt." And, second ... just in case the DNC loses..... they want to cover their lying, cheating asses.
But, assertions of trumped up racism like THIS ONE are dangerous. Race is an incendiary issue in this country. As such, it should never be manipulated for political ends. Period.
2) Hiring the ASTROTURFING expert to manage his campaign is Obama's second serious infraction in the book of dirty campaign strategies. Astroturfing has everything to do with manipulating the "grassroots." And, quite honestly.... I believe that the Democrats will pay dearly for what they are doing to young voters this year.
THIS Kid is but one example of young bloggers who were following Obama's suggestion that they "get in our faces" and "use their elbows" to MAKE us vote for him. Unfortunately, young David Kernell may pay for his obedience. With an FBI investigation, a criminal record, and a jail sentence. I want to be very clear about my objection to Obama's "bloggerboy" strategy: IT IS NOT OK TO USE YOUNG PEOPLE FOR PERSONAL POLITICAL GAIN. EVER.
Much of what has happened in Obama's "astroturf" campaign is likely in violation of FEC regulations. In this JAWA REPORT we can see how it works. In short, the campaign produces a hit peice and then "distributes" it via Youtube. All the while making it look as if amateur bloggers are responsible. I have every reason to believe that the Hillary hit peices were traceable to Axelrod's machine, just as the Palin smears are.

New Agenda Calls Out NOW On Obama Endorsement
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/20/AR2008092002277_2.html
"The New Agenda points out that since NOW's 1966 founding, it had endorsed at the presidential level only four times -- and each time a woman was on the ticket: Shirley Chisholm in the 1972 Democratic primary; Democrats Walter F. Mondale and Geraldine A. Ferraro for the 1984 general election; Carol Moseley Braun in the 2003 Democratic primary; and Hillary Rodham Clinton in the 2008 Democratic primary.
""We find it quite perplexing that NOW has chosen to endorse an all-male ticket after not endorsing recent candidates such as Gov. Bill Clinton, Sen. Al Gore, or Sen. John Kerry," New Agenda co-founder Amy Siskind said in the statement.
The New Agenda represents the coming together of more than 30 prominent Clinton supporters, many deeply involved in the bitter Democratic primary battle, into a post-primary initiative to combat what it sees as media sexism.""

Lynn Forester de Rothchild Explains Her Defection
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122109030550621451.html?mod=googlenews_wsj
""I'm a longtime Democrat. I worked for Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan and supported Sen. Hillary Clinton in her presidential campaign. But I must face the uncomfortable truth that liberal elitism has been a weakness of the Democratic Party for more than half a century. In 1952 and 1956, for example, Adlai Stevenson emerged as the presidential candidate of the party's "new politics" wing. But while Stevenson's stylish, articulate, high-brow manner thrilled the nation's intellectuals, he could never connect with large numbers of working-class Democrats who found him aloof and aristocratic.
The "new politics" Democrats have found their new, improved Stevenson in Mr. Obama. In spite of his lofty liberal rhetoric, Mr. Obama is not connecting to millions of middle- and working-class voters, as well as women voters of all classes. Not only is his legislative record scant on issues that make a difference in their lives, but his current campaign is based mainly on an assumption of his transcendence.
Despite Mr. Obama's assertions that his campaign is about "you," much of his campaign is, in fact, all about him.""

FORMER HILLARY CLINTON ACTIVISTS MIGUEL D. LAUSELL
AND LUCHY SECAIRA ENDORSE JOHN MCCAIN
As Democrats for McCain Ranks Continue to Grow, "Change Is Coming"
For Immediate Release

703-650-5550
ARLINGTON, VA -- The McCain-Palin presidential campaign today announced the endorsement of Miguel D. Lausell, Senior Political Advisor to Hillary Clinton, and Clinton Delegate-at-Large Luchy Secaira.
"Although I supported Hillary during the primaries, I now support John McCain and Governor Palin because I am putting my country first," said Secaira, former Hillary Clinton Florida Delegate-at-Large. "They have the experience and judgment to lead America through these difficult times, and I trust them to work with Democrats to do the right thing for our country."
Lausell, who advised Senator Clinton on a variety of issues including international trade, telecommunications and Latino affairs, added, "John McCain has a long record of reforming government and working across the aisle to achieve bipartisan results. His courageous leadership is exactly what we need in the White House, and I am convinced that John McCain is the right leader at the right time for our nation."
Both Lausell and Secaira supported Sen. Hillary Clinton during the primaries, but they will campaign for the McCain-Palin ticket.
Lausell has served as President and CEO of the Puerto Rico Telephone Company; Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Telephone Authority; a member of the Governor of Puerto Rico's Economic Strategic Council; President of the Export Policy Commission of Puerto Rico; and Undersecretary of the Department of the Treasury of Puerto Rico. He served on the National Finance Board of the Gore 2000 Committee and was a member of the Democratic National Committee's Leadership 2000 Board.
Secaira, who is of Dominican descent, traveled to eight states to coordinate grassroots efforts for Senator Clinton, has a doctorate of neuropsychology and was trained at New York University.

Many Gays OK With Palin
""It isn’t just gay Alaskans who are happy with Sarah Palin on the Republican ticket. Even some Hillary Democrats who had been pulling for McCain since their candidate lost are pleased, with one e-mailing me to say that the Republican ticket is one he is “enthusiastic about and I’m honestly surprised by that, having never entertained the thought of voting Republican before (with the exception of Schwarzenegger).” He had been hoping for some time that McCain would pick her.
Gay Republicans who gathered in St. Paul for the Republican convention were happy with the pick. Some were just relieved that McCain hadn’t tapped former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Others were delighted at having a new face from outside our nation’s capital on the ticket.
Calling Palin an “inclusive Republican,” Log Cabin President Patrick Sammon believes Palin will benefit the GOP ticket by “appealing to independent and young voters.”"

How The Left Loses Elections
My "Progressive" friends won't want to hear this. But, LiberalRapture has nailed the reason why the "Left" loses national elections.
""Maybe I was that smug, too. I would mock someone driving a Yugo with a Reagan bumper sticker. My gosh! You are voting against your own self interest! I was a what's the matter with Kansas person. Now, I'm a lot more open (read liberal) about people.""
<snip>
""I'm sick of being called a Republican because I see through the mystique of Obama. I'm sick of being called a racist because I won't vote for an unqualified man who happens to be black. I am over being called stupid because I can't see the greatness of Obama.
None of those things can bring me over to the Democratic side. I'm fairly certain that those techniques are not listed in How to Win Friends and Influence People. I always thought Democrats lost because of bad campaigns. I'm beginning to realize the loss should have been blamed on alienating more than half of the electorate by calling them dumb.""
Yeah. What she said!
